In the next few days the concrete monster called “Amazon Tower” will open its doors. Its shadow has been a cold presence for a while already so this news is no surprise, we knew that this moment would come, turning our city even more into a place for the rich, businessmen, speculators and other scum.

The presence of this building brings consequences in our city, many of these we have been suffering for years but with each day they are becoming more acute. The rise in the price of rent makes it practically impossible to find a place to live that does not force us to slave away to pay the rent, the continuous process of gentrification where our neighbourhoods become uninhabitable places for most people and bring with them inequality, misery and repression.

But amazon is not only this ugly building that blights our landscape, it is also a company that represents the worst of technological progress, exploitation, the digitalisation of life which we fervently reject.

The ones, who will be sitting in the newly build tower with a view over Berlin, are those handing their exploitation down to the thousands of workers, who are working day by day in dark shipping centres outside of the cities and profiting off of them. Nevermind the working conditions of those, who are producing the commodities packed in these shipping centres. Amazon is one of the faces of 21st century capitalism and the ongoing neo-colonization of the world.

We refuse to become servants of screens and algorithms, of manufactured desire and other manipulation, of thinking that everything can be bought. We do not want a world where artificial intelligence controls our lives, we do not believe that technology will make us freer and our lives easier. We do not want to be mediated by technology and talk to and through machines. What gentrification does to our lives in the city, digitalization does to society. They are two cards in the hand of the forces of exploitation, domination and oppression, leading to the enshitification of the world. But the fight against their control over our lives and the city, against the consequences of digital dominion needs more than petition and protest. Direct intervention and open conflict need to be kindled in a continuous process and opportunities to break the silent consent taken and explored. It has been quiet from our side, as a structurre we haven’t intervened in this particular part of the antigentrification struggle in a while, but this doesnt mean that we do not see opportunities and necessity.

For all this and more we will continue to fight against amazon and anyone who impoverish and commodify our lives and the lives of others , for all this we call to join the demonstration against the Amazon Tower next Saturday 26th October at 4pm at Schleidenplatz (S-Bahn Frankfurter Allee).

Gemeinsam gegen die Gentrifizierung und die “enshitification” der Welt

In den nächsten Tagen wird das Betonmonster namens “Amazon Tower” seine Pforten öffnen, sein Schatten ist schon seit einiger Zeit eine kalte Präsenz.Diese Nachricht ist also keine Überraschung, wir wussten, dass dieser Moment kommen würde, der unsere Stadt noch mehr in einen Ort für die Reichen, Geschäftsleute, Spekulanten und anderen Abschaum verwandelt.

Die Existenz dieses Gebäudes hat Folgen für unsere Stadt, viele davon, die wir schon seit Jahren erleiden, aber mit jedem Tag verschärfen sie sich. Der Anstieg der Mietpreise macht es praktisch unmöglich, eine Wohnung zu finden, die uns nicht dazu zwingt schuften müssen, um die Miete zu bezahlen, der kontinuierliche Prozess der Gentrifizierung, bei der unsere Stadtviertel für die meisten Menschen unbewohnbar werden und Ungleichheit, Elend und Unterdrückung mit sich bringen.

Aber amazon ist nicht nur dieses hässliche Gebäude, das unser Stadtbild verschandelt, sondernes ist auch ein Konzern, der für das Schlimmste des technologischen Fortschritts, der Ausbeutung und der Digitalisierung des Lebens, steht, welche wir alle mit Nachdruck ablehnen.

Jene, die in dem neu gebauten Turm mit Blick über Berlin sitzen werden, sind diejenigen, die ihre Ausbeutung an die tausenden von Arbeiter*innen, welche Tag für Tag in dunklen Versandzentren außerhalb der Städte arbeiten, weiterreichen und von ihnen profitieren. Ganz abgesehen von den Arbeitsbedingungen derer, die, in diesen Zentren verpackten Massenwaren, produzieren. Amazon ist eines der Gesichter des Kapitalismus des 21. Jahrhunderts und der fortschreitenden Neokolonisierung der Welt.

Wir weigern uns, zu Dienern von Bildschirmen und Algorithmen zu werden, von fabrizierten Begehren anderer Manipulation und dem Glauben, dass man alles kaufen kann. Wir wollen keine Welt, in der künstliche Intelligenz unser Leben kontrolliert. Wir glauben nicht, dass die Technologie uns freier und unser Leben einfacher machen wird. Wir wollen direkten menschlichen Kontakt und nicht von Technik vermittlet werden und weder mit noch durch “Hilfe” von Maschinen sprechen. Was die Gentrifizierung mit unserem Leben in der Stadt macht, tut die Digitalisierung mit der Gesellschaft. Es sind zwei Karten in der Hand der Kräfte der Ausbeutung, Herrschaft und Unterdrückung welche uns die“enshitification” der Welt bringen. Aber der Kampf gegen ihre Kontrolle über unser Leben und die Stadt, gegen die Folgen der digitalen Herrschaft braucht mehr als Petitionen und Proteste. Direkte Intervention und offene Konflikte müssen in einem kontinuierlichen Prozess angefacht werden und Gelegenheiten, den stillen Konsens zu brechen, ergriffen und ausgelotet werden. Von unserer Seite war es in letzter Zeit ruhig, als Struktur haben wir uns eine Weile nicht mehr in diesen Teil des Antigentrifizierungskampfes eingebracht, aber das bedeutet nicht, dass wir Notwendigkeiten und Gelegenheiten nicht sehen.

Für all das und mehr werden wir weiterhin gegen amazon und jeden kämpfen, der versucht, unser Leben und das Leben anderer verelenden und zu kommodifizieren. Für all das rufen wir dazu auf, an der Demonstration gegen den “Amazon Tower” am kommenden Samstag, den 26. Oktober um 16 Uhr am Schleidenplatz (S-Bahnhof Frankfurter Allee) teilzunehmen.
